A chance encounter at the Orland Square Mall  turned into a brawl for the wife and  ex-wife of a Chicago man, police said.

Orland Park Police cited Migdalia Rodriguez, 48, of the 10100 block of Morgan Street in Chicago and Lynnette M. Love, 50, of the 8400 block of Maryland Avenue in Chicago, for violating a village ordinance against battery around 4:15 p.m. May 25 after each demanded the arrest of the other.

Robert Love told police he was shopping with his wife,  Rodriguez, her adult daughter and young granddaughter when he went to a different store and found Love shopping with their daughter and infant grandchild.

He said he chatted with his ex-wife and daughter, then returned to Rodriguez. A few minutes later, Love walked in with his daughter and grandchild. Both women exchanged looks, then words, then blows, police said.

Robert and Mall security separated the two.

Rodriguez told police Love punched her in the mouth and bit her finger. Police observed scratches on Love’s arm.

Police said they were unable to find witnesses who weren’t directly involved in the altercation.
