The City of Berwyn and the Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) are pleased to announce their partnership with I-GO Car Sharing to establish Berwyn’s first car share program.

I-GO is Chicagoland's only non-profit, local car sharing company. I-GO's eco-friendly cars are available by the hour or day, anytime of day or night, including weekends and holidays. I-GO’s Berwyn car, a 2011 Red Nissan Versa 5-door Hatchback, is now in service at the Municipal Parking Lot located at 3126 S. Oak Park Avenue, just north of the tracks in Berwyn’s Depot District.

I-GO’s CEO Sharon Feigon stated, “I'm excited about our recent expansion into Berwyn. Berwyn is just the kind of community that I-GO is looking for with its excellent transit access and its affordable stock of historic bungalows that attracts so many time first-time homeowners. Now it's even easier to live in Berwyn and get your errands done without having to incur the expense of owning a car (or a second car)."

I-GO members can reserve the car either online, on their smart phone or by calling the 24-hour call center at 773-278-4446. For a limited time, Berwyn residents can join I-GO for only $25 and get $25 in free driving by using the promo code BERWYN.

Berwyn recruited I-GO after determining that a car sharing program would offer additional transit options in the Depot District. The multi-modal commuter district currently supports pedestrians, bicyclists, autos, commuter buses and three Metra Rail stations.

Berwyn Mayor Robert Lovero said, “Adding a car sharing program makes sense for us. Now, Berwyn’s transit options can fill nearly any need. Whether you’re commuting into downtown or taking a quick road trip, the Depot District offers a variety of options to better serve our residents.”

I-GO’s 15,000 members have access to 250 low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicles in Berwyn, Oak Park, Evanston and 35 neighborhoods across Chicago. By lowering the need for car ownership, car sharing helps residents reduce their transportation costs while simultaneously reducing urban congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. Rates start at low as $6.75 an hour and $70 a day and always include gas, insurance, a reserved parking space and all vehicle maintenance.
