The Chicago-based State Street Brass Quintet brings a free concert of music for brass quintet to Concordia University Chicago on Jan. 17, beginning 4 p.m. at the Chapel of our Lord on the Concordia campus, 7400 Augusta St., River Forest.

The State Street Brass program will feature Malcolm Arnolds quintet, Op. 73, and Four Sketches by Anthony Plog. Also included will be music from Victor Ewald, Brahms, Gabrieli and Vueltas del Fuego (Ride of Fire) by Kevin Mckee (2007).

Since 2007 Street Brass Quintet continues to deliver a full-throttle blast of everything Chicago’s music scene has to offer. With more than 45 years combined performing and teaching experience, the quintet is sought as individual artists and as a group.

The quintet performs with orchestras, operas, theatres, and chamber ensembles throughout the Chicago region and the Midwest including the Dubuque Symphony, Quad City Symphony, Battle Creek Symphony, Peoria Symphony, Kenosha Symphony, Ars Viva! Symphony, Rockford Symphony, Lake Forest Symphony, Light Opera Works, Northshore Concert Band, and more.

Members are Wes Skidgel and Candace Horton, trumpets; Kelly Langenberg, horn; Peter Bouchard, trombone; and Jim Langenberg, tuba.
