BHG Real Estate/Gloor Realty & New World Van Lines Wrap Up 3rd Annual Clothing & Toy Drive
Thanks to an extended donation period—and, of course, the generosity of numerous individuals and families—this year’s Clothing & Toy Drive at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gloor Realty enjoyed another successful campaign.
The third annual effort, initially scheduled to run through the end of November, lasted until Dec. 20 at the real estate firm’s office at 114 N. Oak Park Ave. On that date, a New World Van Lines crew picked up more than 20 boxes filled with donated items from members of the community and took them to the Catholic Charities location in Cicero.
In the drive’s history, BHG Real Estate/Gloor Realty officials estimate they have collected more than 7,500 items in all.
And throughout the just-completed campaign, a steady stream of articles poured into the office. New and gently used clean clothing, such as hats, scarves, gloves, coats and linens, as well as a variety of toys, games and books for children topped the philanthropic list.
Catholic Charities had been a recipient of the drive’s first two years as well. Other past beneficiaries have included KIPP Ascend Charter School and Vital Bridges.
New World Van Lines, which collected items at its Chicago office (5875 N. Rogers Ave.) and 12 other locations nationwide, donated boxes and the use of a truck and driver for delivery.
Established in 1946 and with a current market presence encompassing 13 Chicago-area communities, Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate Gloor Realty is an independent, family-owned company.
