Have you ever wanted to help a worthy cause but thought, I’m not sure I want to go to another ordinary fundraising event? We have the ticket for you! Mary Lou Miller and Patti Paul are hosting a “Race for the Cause” benefit at Maywood Park Racetrack on Thursday, July 21 to benefit the children and adults with disabilities served by Seguin Services throughout metropolitan Chicago. This exciting event will be held at the half-mile harness racetrack in honor of Mary Lou’s daughter and Patti’s niece, Mallory Miller, who resides at a Seguin group home.
While you enjoy a night’s entertainment at the races plus a buffet dinner and opportunities to bid on silent auction and raffle baskets also, you’ll know you’re doing more than merely having a fun night out. The evening will benefit the life skills training, community employment services and residential services to adults as well as the children’s foster care services that Seguin provides to individuals with developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome or autism.
Both Mrs. Miller and Ms. Paul decided to host the evening because they strongly believe Seguin is a well-run agency. Mrs. Miller recently said, “Our daughter, Mallory, was placed in residential care with Seguin Services in 2009. While our decision to place Mallory was bittersweet, we could not be more grateful to this extraordinary organization. Mallory has made gains that I could never have imagined. Although my heart broke letting her go, she has made such incredible progress that has been life changing for her as well as our family. She has soared to new heights. Today, she is happy and more able while continuing to receive care and love. Since the State of Illinois plans to cut funding to all agencies in Illinois who provide services to these vulnerable citizens, Patti and I decided to address this budget crisis by having this ‘Race for the Cause’ fundraiser to benefit all Seguin residents.”
Be part of the solution and have a great evening out too! Tickets are $35 each and include park admission, valet parking, race program, buffet dinner and opportunity to bid on many auction and raffle basket items, plus the knowledge that your night out means something special to those in need.
