Bolingbrook man shot ex-wife in self-defense, attorney argues

The fatal shooting of a Bolingbrook woman by her ex-husband outside an Oak Brook hotel onNew Year’s Day 2010 was done in self-defense, the man’s lawyer argued Wednesday.

A jury heard opening statements and testimony as Jerry L. Hudson’s trial for the slaying of Melissa Bridgewater started in DuPage County. Bridgewater, 45, of Bolingbrook, was shot to death about 6:20 a.m. Jan. 1, 2010, in her car in the parking lot of the Doubletree Hotel.
