Dist. 28 families rock out to support new school in Africa

For the eighth year, student musicians in Northbrook School District 28 performed for their families and friends to raise money to build a new school in Kenya.

The Concert for Africa, held at Northbrook Junior High School on Friday, has been one of the main fundraisers behind a partnership between District 28 and Fred Outa, a member of the Kenyan Parliament who has worked to support the people of the Kibera slum in Kenya’s largest city, Nairobi.

The money raised will help build a new high school for girls that is scheduled to open early next year.
