Workers recently began excavating a new “enabling” community garden behind the Creswood Place senior apartments in Northbrook.

The garden will include such features as a hard, permeable surface and raised planting beds to make the garden accessible to people with disabilities, said Brian P. Bruce, coordinator of Northbrook Community Garden Inc., the organization establishing the garden.
