Get out your tuxedo and Fido’s best collar or feather boa for Heartland Animal Shelter’s Fourth Golden Paw Gala to benefit the animals at the Northbrook shelter. ABC 7 News Reporter Charles Thomas will serve as this year’s special host for the event set for Saturday, November 13th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 2875 Milwaukee Ave. in Northbrook.
The reception and silent auction is set to begin at 6 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m. with a selection of appetizer stations, wonderful desserts and a champagne toast to our mission to find permanent, loving homes for homeless animals. In addition, a wide variety of packages and special gifts have been donated by area businesses and are available through the Golden Paw Gala Silent Auction to benefit the animals. Several special items will also be highlighted for a regular auction and other special auctions during the event.
“The Golden Paw Gala gives us the opportunity to honor the volunteers, staff and donors who have helped Heartland take care of and find homes for over 1,000 animals this past year,” said Heartland Animal Shelter Executive Director Stephanie Preiser-Hoffman. “We will also celebrate the animals that have a special place in our hearts and those still looking for a forever home.”
Tickets will be $75 per person and $25 per dog prior to the event and $100 per person and $50 per dog at the door. A Golden Paw Table for up to six people may be reserved for $550. Reservations may be made online at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net/Events.html or by calling the Gala Hotline at (847) 636-8461. Sponsorship opportunities and donations are being accepted at the shelter.
The evening’s main attraction – The Golden Paw Gala Pageant – has been expanded this year to include a web site photo contest (great way to include the family cat or other pets) as well and includes Silliest Pose, Most Lovable Face, Biggest Smile and Pet & Guardian Look-A-Like. During the evening’s pageant, web site photo contestants will be featured on the “big screen” and a Golden Paw Gala King and Queen of Giving will be crowned for the pet philanthropists that raise the most money on their personal photo web site at www.firstgiving.com/has prior to the gala. A complementary gala admission will be awarded to contestants for each $250 they raise.
In addition to the pageant, there will be plenty of other activities for the well-behaved canines in attendance The Pampered Pooch Parlor will offer doggie massages, canine “up dos” from a Fur Stylist, a pet communicator and photographers. Whole Foods Market will also participate in the Pasmpered Pooch Parlor and will be on hand to discuss All Natural Products and “Healthy Options for Your Pet.” They also will be giving away dog prizes at their booth.
Proceeds benefit Heartland Animal Shelter, a no-kill humane organization dedicated to finding homeless animals their forever homes while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets in order to decrease pet over population. Because Heartland is a 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax deductible.
