Northbrook Associates Celebrates 35 Years

With its September 14th membership coffee, the Northbrook Community Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago celebrates its 35th year of promoting adult art education in the community.  The Associates offers monthly lectures and trips to either Art Institute or other art-related sites in the greater Chicago area.  The aim of each program is to introduce the participants to topics, locations and special exhibits which are topical and of major interest.

In addition to the monthly trips, the Associates hosts an annual scholarship benefit luncheon and lecture.  Funds raised from the luncheon are presented to Glenbrook North art students as scholarships for courses given at Art Instititute.  Presently the Associates funds three scholaraships for artistically talented GBN students.

The topic of the Tuesday, September 14th lecture is Stylin’ Paris: Fashion, Femininity and Leisure in the Art of the Impressionists.  Miranda Hofelt, adjunct lecturer at the Art Institute of Chicago, will be the speaker. The coffee and membership sign-up begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Northbrook Public Library; lecture begins at 11:00 a.m. in the Library auditorium. There is no charge for the program.
