Fifth Friday

Fifth Fridays Bring Networkers Together at Butterfield’s Northbrook, Illinois (July2, 2010) – A series of broad-based networking events, taking place on each fifth Friday of a month, is bringing together members of local Chambers of Commerce and other professional networking organizations to expand members’ business associations. Organized by ABC Communications at Butterfield’s Pancake House and Restaurant in Northbrook, our nineth meeting in the series will take place July 30, 2010. There will be one seating for up to 100 people, starting at 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 am with additional networking taking place until around 11:30. This networking event features a breakfast buffet of special dishes from Butterfield’s innovative menu. Those who attend are urged to bring plenty of business cards to facilitate expanding their contact lists. Reservations (847-835-0126) are required for the networking event, with advance payment of $20. Butterfield’s Fifth Friday’s sponsored by What’s Happening newspaper and its founder, ABC Communications. This event will also be held October 29 and December 31, 2010 Butterfield’s Pancake House & Restaurant opened in a modern, airy space at 4195 Dundee Road, Northbrook, a year and a half ago. It is the fourth restaurant in a chain that started in Wheaton in 1999 and includes restaurants in Naperville (2003) and Scottsdale, Arizona (2006). Hours at all locations are 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. “We stand out because of our menu,” says Strati Panagakos, one of the partners in the company, who runs the Northbrook location. Acknowledging that the area is very competitive for breakfast, Panagakos singled out as specialties frittatas (“we have one that’s artichokes with garlic seasoning”), heart healthy dishes (veggie and chicken hashes), oatmeal (Scottish steel cut and, in one delicious version, served topped with bananas and caramelized brown sugar), jambalaya omelets and French Toast. French toast is at the top of the list of recommendations with Taffy Apple (thick holly bread stuffed with our special caramel, granny smith apple and mascarpone cheese blend and topped with caramel and toasted Georgia pecans), Strawberry Cheesecake (stuffed with our special strawberry and mascarpone cheese blend and topped with fresh field-grown strawberries – wonderfully sweet) and Lemon Poppy Seed (luscious lemon poppy seed bread dipped in our special batter and topped with our light blueberry compote and a tangy lemon glaze). Butterfield’s also has a varied lunch menu featuring sandwiches and salads. Panagakos, who holds a degree in hotel and restaurant management from Michigan State University, said Butterfield’s (847-205-2588) goes out of its way to give customers what they want, adding that, there, “breakfast is an all-day affair.” He noted that the restaurant caters to everyone from children to corporations, with a birthday club for the former and, for the latter, partnerships that provide discounts to employees. There’s free Wi-Fi and regular drawings for group meals. On Veteran’s Day (Tuesday, November 11 this year) and Memorial Day veterans eat for free. Plenty of free parking, too. Additional information on Butterfields and its menu are available at www.butterfieldsrestaurant.com, as are discount coupons. # # #
