Feb. 21, Northbrook: Boys approached by suspicious teens, and more

Suspicious incident

The mother of a 13-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy reported at 4 p.m. Feb. 15 that two males, possibly teenagers, in a silver of gray sedan stopped her children while they were walking home from Maple School and asked them if they wanted candy. The boys kept walking, and the people in the car then asked the boys if they could help find a lost dog. The incident occurred near Willow and Greenwood roads. The school was notified of the incident. The incident doesn’t appear to be linked to one in Glenview Feb. 16, in which a boy said a man asked to give him a ride to school, according to police.

Harassment

A 47-year old Northbrook man was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Feb. 1 in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane and charged with harassment by telephone after calling Northbrook Village Hall and leaving numerous rambling messages. He had been warned by police in the past to have no more contact with Village Hall unless it was for legitimate purposes. The calls were not of a threatening nature, according to police.

Warrant arrest

A 24-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 9:18 a.m. Feb. 18 at Lake-Cook Road and the Edens Expressway and charged with driving an overloaded pickup truck and unlawful use of registration. He also was processed on an Illinois warrant for driving with a suspended license and a Michigan warrant for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Open alcohol

A 31-year-old Skokie man was issued a citation at 3:23 p.m. Feb. 18 in the 1100 block of Meadow Road for riding in a vehicle with an open container of alcohol.

Retail theft

A 48-year-old Glenview woman was issued a citation Feb. 12 in the 800 block of Willow Road for retail theft.

Theft

Someone siphoned 211 gallons of diesel fuel Feb. 13 or 14 from the underground tank of a gas station in the 500 block of Dundee Road. The loss was estimated at $812.

A resident of the 1300 block of Ridge Road reported Feb. 17 that about $25,000 worth of jewelry was missing from his home. He said deliverymen were at his home, but he didn’t notice any suspicious behavior.

Vehicle damage

A vehicle was scratched Feb. 16 while parked at Glenbrook North High School.

Words and symbols were scratched into a vehicle Feb. 17 at Glenbrook North High School.
