Aug. 30, Northbrook, parents tip off police to drinking party, more

Underage drinking

A 17-year-old Northbrook girl was issued a citation at 9:51 p.m. Aug. 28 on the 1200 block of Candlewood Hill Road for consumption of alcohol by a minor after she was seen fleeing a house where an alleged underage drinking party took place. Police were tipped off to the party by parents of one of the attendees. Police went to the house and announced their presence. There, they could hear people inside saying to turn off the lights and not answer the door, and they saw the offender fleeing.

Leaving the scene

A 21-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Aug. 26 at Landwehr and Dundee roads and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to give information.

Speeding

A 21-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 5:14 p.m. Aug. 28 at Dundee Road and Juniper Lane and charged with speeding more than 40 mph over the limit.

A 21-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 1:31 a.m. Aug. 29 at Walters Avenue and Waukegan Road and charged with disobeying a traffic control device and speeding more than 40 mph over the limit.
 
Warrant arrest

An 18-year-old Oak Lawn man was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Aug. 28 at Lake Cook Road and Pointe Drive on a Cook County warrant for burglary.

DUI arrests

A 37-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at Pfingsten and Dundee roads and charged with two counts of DUI, improper lane use and violating the median.

A 58-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Aug. 23 at Founders and Willow roads and charged with DUI, following too closely, failure to signal, illegal transportation of alcohol and no valid insurance.

A 49-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 3:03 p.m. Aug. 25 on the 1700 block of Dundee Road and charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane use and failure to signal.

Criminal damage

A vehicle’s driver’s side mirror was broken between 6:30 and 10:20 p.m. Aug. 22 on the 300 block of Park Drive

A vehicle was keyed between 10 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Aug. 25 on the 1000 block of Willow Road.

Vandalism

A Northbrook Park District vehicle was egged between 5:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and 7:30 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Park District Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave.

Credit card fraud

A woman bought two pairs of shoes around 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at Nordstrom, 199 Skokie Boulevard, using re-coded Visa gift cards.
    
Deceptive practice

A Northbrook man reported Aug. 26 that his Visa debit card was used illegally to make nearly $1,600 worth of purchases online.

Theft

An $80 iPod was taken between 3:15 and 5 p.m. Aug. 25 from a girls varsity athletics locker at Glenbrook North High School.

Battery

A 10-year-old girl was slapped in the face by an unknown man on a bicycle at 6:06 p.m. Aug. 27 in Stonegate Park.
