Glenbrook South High school alumna Grace Kaskie was a young filmmaker hoping to one day break into the movie industry when she was killed Sunday in a California vehicle crash.
“She was always interested in making movies,” said her aunt, Mary Kaskie, of Naperville. “She’d always make movies when she was younger. That was kind of her passion.”
The accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. in Santa Maria, according to local press reports.
Grace Kaskie, 21, was a member of Glenbrook South’s class of 2007, according to school district officials.
She took part in film production activities while at Glenbrook South, and was spending the summer as a film industry intern in California, her aunt said. She was set to graduate next year from Emerson College in Boston.
Grace Kaskie’s sister, Emily, was a passenger in the vehicle, and she remains in an intensive care unit in California, Mary Kaskie said. The sisters were going to drive home together after Grace Kaskie’s internship ended.
“She was a lovely person — physically, and in every way,” Mary Kaskie said.
