Lincoln-Way Central students Colin Keppner and Paige Bassi rehearse their parts for the winter play, Twelve Angry Jurors to be held on February 24 and 25.

Drama students at Lincoln-Way Central are working hard learning their lines for the winter play, Twelve Angry Jurors, to be held on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 7:00 pm in the Lincoln-Way Central Fine Arts Center, 1801 E. Lincoln high way, New Lenox.

The play, Twelve Angry Jurors by Reginald Rose will be complimentary for senior citizens for the Friday night performance. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.

The play is about a 19-year old man who has just stood trail for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case-until one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the facts. “This is a remarkable thing about democracy,” says the foreign born juror, “that we are notified by mail to come down to this place, and decide on the guilt or innocence of a man; of a man we have not known before. We have nothing to gain or lose by our verdict. We should not make it a personal thing.”

“But personal it does become, with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the men and women become 12 angry jurors,” noted Nicole Kaestner, Lincoln-Way Central co-theater sponsor and teacher.

Lincoln-Way Central cast members are: Paige Bassi, Jackie Tanis, Colin Keppner, Gina Middleton, Dana Gilbertsen, Finn Mitchel, Ean Schultz, Tyler Seaman, Hannah Burkhardt, Cody Keppner, Paige Dauparas, AJ Gasbarro, Ben Gruca, and Zach Feisley.

“The Lincoln-Way Central Theatre Company commands the stage with this hit drama. The race to the verdict will keep you at the edge of your seats,” stated Kaestner.

“The play is approximately 90 minutes in length. The main entrance is door #7A for the Lincoln-Way Central Fine Arts Center,” added Jennifer Reusz, co-teacher sponsor.
