Lincoln-Way Central High School welcomed students and their parents to the Freshman Open House for the Class of 2016 this past Wednesday, February 8.
The entire Central High School was open for students and parents to tour. The evening started in the Fine Arts Auditorium with a personal welcome from Principal Steve Provis.
“As incoming freshmen, start setting goals now. It is our job to make sure you achieve your goals or at least guide you in the right direction,” Provis told the students and parents in the audience.
Each student, as they entered the school, was given a folder to help them through the registration process. They received the 2016 Open House Program, their individual Explore Scores, class placement recommendations, and a course selection form.
During Principal Provis’s presentation he reviewed the graduation requirements, the community service requirements, the school day time schedule, the list of required freshman courses, information about summer school and zero hour, and information about all the athletics, clubs, and activities that the school offers its students.
“Knight Pride is something we don’t take lightly around here. It is your job as freshman students to carry on the many traditions of this building. I am a graduate of Lincoln-Way, and I am proud to be the principal at Central,” noted Provis.
Students and parents left the auditorium to visit with teachers and guidance counselors to learn about the many academic classes Lincoln-Way Central offers. In addition, coaches and activity sponsors were gathered in the field house to help freshmen select different activities, athletics, and clubs to join.
“The secret to success at Lincoln-Way is involvement. Take advantage of the many opportunities afforded to you as a Knight,” Provis told the students.
