4th Straight Championship for 25-2 9U Lincoln-Way Prospects

The 9U Lincoln-Way Prospects travel baseball team won the CABA GLYSE May Slam Fest hosted in Lynwood, IL May 20-23, 2011. The tournament featured 10 teams from the area, including the Prospects (#1 in State), the E-Sox Chicago White Sox program (#3 in State) in State, and the Tinley Park Bobcats/Stroube (#9 in State). Other teams included Top Tier, Illinois Mavericks, NW Indiana Shockers, Lincoln-Way Yellow Jackets, Valparaiso Screamin' Eagles, Bridgeport and the Orland Youth Association (OYA) Warriors.

The Prospects increased their 9U win streak to 21 straight, with an overall record at 25-2 at the 9U age level. They have played an Elite tournament schedule ranked 17th in the nation by power rank by U.S.S.S.A., and went 5-0 in their opening C.A.B.A. World Series qualifier. They have already qualified three times for U.S.S.S.A., including two National Invitational Tournaments (NIT) championships. They added a 3rd place finish playing up in a 10U tournament losing 7-5 to the eventual tournament winner.

In pool play, the 9U Prospects defeated Top Tier 7-5, Bridgeport 12-4 and shutout a talented E-Sox squad 7-0. They eliminated the Tinley Park Bobcats 10-2 in the semi-final and beat the Illinois Mavericks 8-4 in the championship game on Monday, May 23rd.

The program received a letter from New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann last week acknowledging the State rank for all Prospects' age levels 9, 10 and 11U for May 2011.

On May 25th, the 9U Lincoln-Way Prospects became the 2nd District #210 team to achieve a national TBS team rank in the Top 25. The first was none other than the 11U Lincoln-Way Prospects, who have achieved the honor twice. In 2010, and also through May 24, 2011.
