[CAROL STREAM, IL] – On January 22nd, State Representative candidate Laura Pollastrini signed the Tax Accountability Taxpayer Protection Pledge presented by Tax Accountability, the political action committee of Taxpayers United of America (TUA), one of the largest taxpayer organizations in the country, founded by Jim Tobin of Illinois. While in Wheaton preparing to go door-to-door to meet voters of the 42nd District, Pollastrini signed the pledge.
“We were promised in 2011 that a 67% income tax increase would allow the state to pay its bills and get us out of debt,” Pollastrini stated. “Here we are one year later just as much in debt, if not more. Tax increases are not the answer. Better management, better governance, less government intrusion and common sense are. No more taxes!”
Pollastrini, 44, is a licensed attorney in Illinois and currently manages Government Relations for Northwestern College. She was raised in the District, attending local public schools. Pollastrini worked for 5 years for the Illinois Senate President in the early to mid-90’s, then spent nearly 10 years as the Public Information & Special Projects Manager for the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. After obtaining her law degree, Pollastrini practiced at a private law firm in Chicago, concentrating her practice in municipal and local government law.
The 42nd District encompasses the entire town of Winfield and parts of Carol Stream, West Chicago, Warrenville, Wheaton, Lisle and Naperville, all within DuPage County.
