From California and Nova Scotia they traveled. From Minnesota and Florida they flew. From Schaumburg even they drove — to network with others who share their enthusiasm for DotNetNuke web development.
Naperville hosted the first Day of DotNetNuke in this state on Saturday, October 2, bringing together programmers, designers and users of this Open Source Content Management System. Nik Kalyani, the co-founder of DotNetNuke Corporation, gave the keynote address and started the conference with a sense of intellectual enthusiasm and friendliness that carried over for the rest of the day and into the night.
Northern Illinois University – Naperville campus was the setting for multiple sessions throughout the day as various expert speakers shared their knowledge. Attendees were especially thrilled with NIU’s facilities as there were electrical outlets at every seat and super-fast wi-fi so the techies could plug in their laptops to blog, Twitter and upload photos during the conference.
Day of DotNetNuke – Chicago was co-organized by the Chicago and St. Louis Users Groups. Three of the Chicago Group’s members, Phil Wegrzyn, Jim Nagy and Don Gingold, gave presentations during the conference. Gingold and Nagy of Sprokcet Websites were also the local organizers of the event. The Chicago DotNetNuke User Group meets monthly in Downers Grove and is always open to new members.
The out-of-town, out-of-state and out-of-country visitors were delighted with Naperville as the host city for the conference. In addition to the conference at NIU, attendees also enjoyed socializing in downtown Naperville at places such as Black Finn and Bar Louie.
Many folks are looking ahead already to next year, but for those who just can’t wait, read more about this event online, or better yet, come to the User Group meeting!
