Worker injured after ‘electrical malfunction’ at Edward Hospital

An electrical malfunction injured a worker at Edward Hospital, officials said Tuesday.

Edward Hospital Public Relations Specialist Keith Hartenberger declined to release the condition of the contractor or details of the incident, citing privacy laws.

“They were in the process of installing new equipment,” Hartenberger said, adding that the incident occurred Sunday morning beneath the emergency department at Edward.

Hartenberger released a statement that said an “electrical malfunction” caused the injury, which did not affect hospital operations. Hospital officials would not release additional details.

“Our thoughts are with the worker and his family,” Hartenberger said in the statement.
