A woman who told police she needed a little alone time when an officer found her topless in her vehicle was charged with a weapons related offense, Naperville police said.
Naperville Police Sgt. Gregg Bell said an officer who was responding to a separate call observed 44-year-old Vicki K. Myers naked from the waist up in a van parking in a hotel lot around 9:45 p.m. Friday and stopped to investigate.
Bell said the Myers, who told police she was staying at the hotel in the 1600 block of Diehl Road in Naperville, initially claimed to be changing in the vehicle. Further investigation found otherwise, as the officer located items described as “adult items that were used for self-pleasuring” inside the car, according to a police report.
Myers later told the officer she was pleasuring herself, and also disclosed there was a loaded Sig Sauer semi-automatic pistol under her seat, police reports said. Bell said Myers thought it was legal to have the gun in her possession, but the officer found she did not have a Firearm Owners Identification card, according to reports.
“She was apparently staying at the hotel with her sons and said that she felt more comfortable being out in the parking lot,” Bell said.
She was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

I suspect this article will have pretty much ruined this lady’s life and I do not see what newsworthy content it provides other than mentioning masturbation. As mentioned earlier, I see this more as pornography than as news and at a terrible price for someone as I fail to see a connection between “adult items that were used for self-pleasuring” and the charge of “unlawful possession of a firearm”.
Reading Crime blotters from other suburbs helps a person to be more aware of what is happening in the neighborhood but it should not be used as a platform to humiliate and ruin a person.
This article is newspaper porn, appealing to prurient interests. It is not intended to inform, but to humiliate this unfortunate woman.
I agree with the other reader in wondering why this article was ever published. She certainly was not harming anyone and not a danger to the public. I realize that ‘police beat’ columns are standard fare in the local newspaper. However, here you have written an entire article including the woman’s photo. Your intention must be to make fun of the woman. I realize Naperville has a huge police force and not much real crime, but that’s no excuse. You should be ashamed.
Why was it necessary to publish this woman’s picture and the details of he arrest? It sounds like she was just trying to get away from her kids and was not a threat anyone. Was the intent to publicly embarrass her for something that millions of women do everyday because their male partners are inadequate?
