District 128 to Receive Four Awards in State Communications Competition

All four entries submitted by Community High School District 128 in the 2010 Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association’s (INSPRA) Communications and Golden Achievement Contest have been named winners. District 128′ submitted entries in the communication contest’s newsletter and audio video categories, and two in the Golden Achievement Contest. The Golden Achievement award, INSPRAs highest honor, recognizes best practices in every aspect of a public relations effort. Each entry must demonstrate, on one page, the four essential steps in all public relations programs: analysis, planning, execution and communication, and evaluation.

One of the District 128 Golden Achievement award winners was the districts “Expectations for Communicating Electronically with Students,” which was a ground breaking document. When we launched our expectations in March, we were working in a whole new territory, said D128 Technology Director Mick Torres. No other districts that we could find had a document like this in place. Months later, we are so pleased to be recognized for our work, which many other districts have incorporated into their District policies, including Mundelein High School District 120. District Communications Director Mary Todoric, who collaborated on the document with Torres, noted that the TAP testthe key element of the documenthas worked well for District 128. TAP stands for Transparent, Accessible and Professional–three elements that our district believes all electronic communications between staff and students must have.
