DESCRIPTION;CHARSET=UTF-8:CHICAGO WHITE SOX ACADEMY HOSTS FALL WOODEN BAT LEAGUE LISLE, IL. &ndash; The Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy announced that it will be hosting the ninth season of the Chicago White Sox Training Academy High School Wooden Bat League. The Fall Wooden Bat League play takes place on Sundays starting August 22nd and goes through October 10th. The league is the largest in the State of Illinois and the only one to feature an All-Star game held at U.S. Cellular Field, Home of the Chicago White Sox. The Fall Wooden Bat League attracts numerous professional scouts and college coaches by having more than a thousand of the best Chicago area high school players participating each year. All teams will play three doubleheaders and four single games and are split into two divisions: Jr. Varsity and Varsity. On days with single games, there is an hour of group instruction from the professional Sox Academy coaches. Composite wooden bats will be provided for each team in addition to a t-shirt and a hat for each player. Each fall baseball game will be strictly enforced by IHSA rules. The cost to participate is only $370.00 per athlete. The Fall Wooden Bat League game sites are convenient for easy travel. The northern sites include Graylake Central, Lake Forest and Mundelein High School. The central sites are Benedictine University, College of Dupage, Fenwick High School, La Grange Babe Ruth, Waubonsee Community College, and Wheaton North. The southern sites consist of Homewood-Flossmoor and South Suburban Community College. The Chicago Bulls/Sox Training Academy opened in 2001 in Lisle, Illinois and runs extensive training programs for boys and girls from beginner to professional. There are additional satellite White Sox Academies in Glen Ellyn, LaGrange, Tinley Park and Schererville, IN.
