My son is almost 26 years old and still gets carded – and I applause the server each and every time. I’m shocked at the establishments that didn’t card. Some are places that we patronize. And Dominicks, of all places. I know that Jewel/Osco is very diligent on carding. I have seen people in their 30′s – 40′s be turned down on liquor sales as Osco because they don’t have the proper ID’s. Providing a passport or an out of country license should never be used as proper documentation. Good work Osco workers!!!! I applaude the city of Des Plaines for this sting operation. How about other viliages adoption this means to crack down on underage purchases! Let’s extend this to cigaretts/cigars/chewing tobacco too!

It is a real shame that one neighbor can cause all these problems. I do not live in Northbrook but have the same type of neighbor. This neighbor complains to the village about something or another (mostly unfounded) about most houses/families in the vicinity. The village reacts, neighbors become upset, relationships are strained and the hostility begins. All because of one neighbor that doesn’t like something or someone. It was nice to read that the neighbors are supporting this woman. I personally don’t see a problem with the garden. What if a house has grass that is overrun with weeds – will the villages be able to force you to hire a lawn service to remove the unsightly weeds – what next?
