  1. There’s a fine line between cleaning up the public area and extending your garden. The next owner of the condo might feel it would be helpful to put a fence and then you’ve just lost some public land. Pick up trash? Fine. Turn a wildlife area into a rockery? Not fine.

  5. You don’t mention that Wilmette has put in ramps in curbs etc that turns the sidewalk into a de facto bike lane. In fact, most people use it. You just get the odd out-of-towner.
