If approved, the additional funding will pay strictly for programs, services and staff, said superintendent Tim Ricker.
the superintendent also said if the referendum passes, the salary freeze will end. still not out the woods, he’s already let everybody know what they’ll be spending referendum money on.

this story is confusing and possibly really misleading.
is the triblocal stating what the correct calculation is? or what the for-the-referendum group says it is?
rereading it again, it is clear that it is not an affirmation of the real cost but rather a report about a statement issued by the for-the-tax-increase group the day before the election and nothing more.
in any case, the calculation by supporters for more taxation is using an estimate of varying value and not an actual number. and it is still three times what the school district falsely advertises on the feb 2 ballot.
and deductions are just great but out of pocket a lot of people don’t have.
what it really amounts to is this: a tax increase is a tax increase is a tax increase.
