Patrick W. Rollens
@patrickwrollensCommunity Producer
I'm a web producer for TribLocal, where I manage breaking news updates for about 20 local sites throughout the suburbs.
In addition, I work with citizen contributors interested in sharing stories and photos in the western suburbs, including Oak Park/River Forest, Elmhurst, Lombard, Villa Park and Forest Park. We publish these stories online and in our weekly print edition. Anyone interested in becoming a TribLocal citizen contributor is invited to get in touch with me.
As a journalist, I'm always interested how stories resonate with our readers each day. A good portion of my job involves reaching readers and contributors via social media, so you'll find plenty of updates from me on Twitter and Facebook. I'd love to hear from you about how new technology is impacting the way you find local news.
Outside of work, you'll find me spending time with my family (wife, two cats and one dog at the moment) and enjoying my hobbies (painting, writing and more).

RandomReader: Our relaunch is designed to address a lot of the issues you raise, including new ways to present stories from staff writers and citizen contributors.
We’ll continue to embrace (and publish!) user-generated stories and photos from our contributor, though no one else in Chicagoland is doing it, and our readers have told us they love it.
