The LCFPD should never have closed this course to begin with. It was “fixable” and could have been earning money and providing low-cost recreatiion for all these years since it was closed. At the time, I believe it was even earning more money that Thunderhawk. But in the agreement that gave LCPFD the land for nothing, they are required to build and maintain a golf course. I am not an attorney and I am not a resident of Ft. Sheridan. But I believe they have a legal obligatiion to build the course. Close one of the other money-losing LCFPD courses and sell the land for development. Use the money to build a modestly priced (to use) course at Ft. Sheridan.
