Just goes to show you that some men aren’t picky about their women. You simply need to breathe for some guy to throw money at you for some fun. Seriously, do they bring paper bags to put over these women’s heads?

@ellarn Well it’s interesting that you’d advocate the government should do something to fix this. We have enough government and enough taxes. Instead, people should realize that pet stores just propagate disease and defects in animal breeds, because most breeders and puppy mills simply crank out maximum puppies per month to make a living because they aren’t qualified to hold down a respectable job. These people are scum, and the animals are treated terribly. Convincing people to stop perpetuating this awful cycle is the only way to make it stop. If you want to find a cute, shivering pet, there are thousands of them awaiting your love at shelters and humane societies across the country. To patronize a pet store is deliberately perpetuating diseases in breeds and artificially supporting an awful, filthy enterprise while allowing other animals to be needlessly killed.

@jarizzo Don’t blame the people who bought the dog, although I see where you are going with that. If people don’t buy puppies from stores, you put some of the mills out of business…I know I know. BUT these people saw this poor thing in a cage, and wanted to take it home. That is compassion, and I think I probably would have done the same. A friend of mine went to a “breeder”, and once inside the home, she realized this was a puppy mill. She scooped up three of the dogs, paid for them and got them out of there. One wound up having a serious condition and died after thousands of dollars spent trying to cure her. The “breeder” was reported and shut down. Don’t fault people for not being able to turn their backs on a “shivering” animal. People need to take care in where they get their animals. There are reputable breeders and humane societies that can help you find a pet. What I personally think is “disgusting” is how animals are regarded as “property”. The state should be requiring licensing for dog and cat breeders, and people should be asking to see those licenses. There need to be laws in place that severely punish those who are running these mills, and they need to go to JAIL. If not for breeding poor innocent animals only to have them die horrible deaths, but also for the thousands of dollars that owners spend trying to save an animal they have fallen in love with.

Lauren, I think you’re missing the point. The driver was ATTACKED. Per the PACE website, unless you have a medical condition that requires you to eat or drink (for example diabetes), there is no eating or drinking allowed on the bus. It’s a rule. Regardless, I highly doubt that it is appropriate to attack a bus driver even if there was no such rule.

There is no Oxford Street in Hinsdale. There is an Oxford in Clarendon Hills.

@earl…I doubt you know the specifics of the case like the attorney’s for the state do. Just because all of the facts are not listed does not mean they are not guilty of the crime that they were convicted of. As for “not measuring properly”, they are convicted sex offenders, and were warned in advance that they would be in violation of the law if they lived within 500 feet of a daycare facility. How much more specific do the police need to be? Do you have a soft spot in your heart for these types of criminals? Scary.

Who, in the name of God, would care about what KIND of frozen food the truck was carrying?

@ellarn I mastered reading a long time ago, thank you.
The individuals WERE identified in other media outlets, so it was just the Tribune who decided to protect them.
Breaking and entering, theft of handguns are VERY SERIOUS offenses. Individuals charged with such crimes should be identified, IMHO.
BTW, I DO live in Hinsdale, not that it should make any difference to you.

@RegularGuy…you obviously cannot read, and probably do NOT live in Hinsdale. They said that they did not release the names because one of the thieves was the son of the owners. They don’t want to identify the VICTIMS by naming their son. Also, I highly doubt that anyone who lives in the 900 block of S. Madison St. is ‘connected’ to anyone at the police department.
