The animals are treated real well before they are sent off to an Auschwitz death camp. What we are teaching our kids is how to bond and butcher. That is the lesson. This is not a farm. I grew up on a farm. This is a petting zoo like it or not, where the residents of Glenview or anywhere else can come to pet and domesticate these animals.
Glenview you should not have to pay taxes for the torturing of domesticated animals. Wagner Farm is getting away with the murder and should not be operating the farm with tax payers money. If Wagner Farm wants to operate a farm and send the animals off to slaughter, so be it. Just don’t take tax payer’s money. You are a petting zoo. So much in fact those animals know their names and come to be petted when called. Does this matter in the minds and hearts of our citizens who pay taxes? It does for me.

The bigger picture here is that Glenview and all of Chicago-land which might visit the Wagner Farms needs to know how the farm actually operates. The big problem is that most people do not know how they operate. The kids who donate their 4-H animals need to be told that their animals will be sold. And the result of that? Yes…slaughter. Many people view Wagner Farms like they view Lincoln Park Zoo. Wagner Farms needs to come out and tell the community what they are doing. They are not a zoo. Let’s be open and clear to the community which pays taxes to support the park district. Is this what the people in Glenview want? Yes or No? They are paying for it so they should have a say. The people need to be aware of Wagner’s practices once and for all.

Who could eat after seeing the pet they raised and cared for towed away? Becoming detached after raising anything and caring for it in this manor is just plain wrong. Where does this sort of behavior lead us? Killing, wars, and violence toward other, that’s where! It’s sad that we would want to teach anyone to detach emotionally. I would also like to comment on the fact that these 4-H parents and children do have an alternative to killing their animals. Why not the Wagner Farm Rescue Fund? Wouldn’t that be better for the emotional children and the (pet) they raised? I call these farm animals pets because of the interaction between children and pets, which is very close and intimate. We can do a better job raising our children and helping out animals who have been domesticated if we understand what being humane is.
