The third annual Friends of the Poor Walk sponsored by The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be held September 25, 2010 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in West Dundee. Five other churches are also hosting the event. They are: St. Mary (Huntley), St. Margaret Mary ( Algonquin), St. Peter and Paul (Cary), St. Monica (Carpentersville), and St. Charles Borromeo (Hampshire). All money raised by the walkers will go directly to the poor of their communities. The day begins at 7:00 a.m. with registration, warm up stretches, and refreshments. The walkers are sent off on their 5K walk with a blessing. Upon return, cool down stretches are encouraged and chair massages are offered. The event ends with a raffle and a closing ceremony. The Friends of the Poor Walk is a fun way to show the poor in our community that we really do care about them. Come on out, walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and become a friend of the poor. Find out how good it feels to give. For more information call 847-658-5542
