Here’s what some of our readers are saying, via email and the TribLocal Facebook page:

“Yes, my sister and I felt the earthquake. We are located in unincorporated Lake County, Illinois, with a Barrington address, but closer to Wauconda and Lake Zurich. There was a very large bang, and the house shook as if a big truck had hit the house.  But the house isn’t at the road, so we knew that couldn’t be what had happened.  I looked out to see if perhaps something had exploded, but didn’t see anything.” — Beth Robertson

“My husband and I were laying in bed on our iPads and it sounded like a car hit our house. Having been stationed in California he knew right away it was an earthquake, but I would have never known!” — Emily McGrath

“I thought I heard something loud, like a large truck right outside my house.” — Mandy Angellotti-Dunskis

“I live in downtown Spring Grove and felt a sharp but quick shock that I felt in the floor through my feet. Since we are near Scot Forge, we assumed they dropped something very large!” — David Allen Rench

“Sitting in my basement watching TV in Cary, it felt like a snowplow going by on our street.” — Bob Seymour
