6th Graders have a “Field Day” in Broncoland!

Montini Catholic High School hosted their annual “6th Grade Field Day,” on Wednesday, October 12th, 2011. Montini invited local junior high schools to come and enjoy some fun competition on the school campus. The theme of the day was “Teamwork and Sportsmanship.” Five schools were in attendance: St. Pius X (Lombard), Our Lady of Peace (Darien), St. Dominick (Bolingbrook), and Sacred Heart School (Lombard).

The day began with each school forming their own Human Pyramid Teams. The students competed to see which school could build a Human Pyramid in the quickest amount of time. Many of the teams relied on the girls with “cheerleading talents” and the boys for their strength! Next, the 6th graders competed in a 40 yard dash racing competition to see which school represented the fastest 6th grader! The students also had the opportunity of attempting a field goal kick in the newly renovated Montini Catholic James Duffy Memorial Stadium. The competitions ended with the schools competing to win a Tug-of-War Competition. The schools learned how to balance their strengths amongst their teammates.

After lunch, the day finished off with awards and an inspirational speech from Coach Bukovsky (Retired State Champion Wrestling Coach and State Champion Defensive Football Coach) in regards to the importance of education, teamwork, and leadership. “This is a great day for the sixth-graders and for Montini Catholic High School. The energy and the spirit of these students reminds us all of why we are in education,” comments Admissions Director, Mike Bukovsky.
