MONTINI FOOTBALL PLAYERS SIGN DIVISION-ONE SCHOLARSHIPS
Montini Catholic High School is proud to announce that on Wednesday, February 3rd, three of its football players have officially signed to play Big Ten football. Among these players are Brandon Pechloff (Glen Ellyn) signing with Western Carolina, Ryan Gorrell (Westchester) signing with Minnesota State, and Nick Campanella (Roselle) signing with Georgetown. These three players lead Montini Catholic High Schools Football Program to its second-ever State Championship Title.
Nick Campanella played for Driscoll Catholic prior to the school closing. While at Driscoll, Nick was on the 2007 Class 4A State Championship Team and earned All-Conference his junior year. After Driscoll closed, Nick came to Montini Catholic and began his senior year as a Bronco Running Back and Defensive Back. Nick was voted Captain of the team and set a school record with a 97 yard Touch Down run vs. Aurora Central Catholic. He was named All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State this year. Besides being a great athlete, Nick is also an excellent student and is on the schools Honor Roll.
Ryan Gorrell has started for the Bronco Varsity Football Team during his junior and senior year as a Running Back and Line Backer. He was voted Captain of the team and has the 3rd longest run for Touch Downs in school history with 94 yards. Ryan earned All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State this year. Ryan is also on the schools Honor Roll list.
Brand Pechloff was also a Captain for the Broncos 2009 State Football Championship Team as their starting Quarter Back. Brandon set many school records this year. The most significant ones were the Longest Touch Down Pass to Jordan Westerkamp for 99 yards, the Most Touch Downs In A Season with 43, and the Most Passing Yardage In A Season with 3,199 yards. Brandon earned All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State this year.
