It has been an exciting past few months for SportsTownChicago.com (brought to you by the Illinois Center for Broadcasting and powered by the beonair.com network) and a main part of the action has been High School Girls Volleyball for the state of Illinois. When it came to the attention of Program Director Dr. Peter Ferreri that there were no girls named as “ALL STARS” or even an “ALL STAR GAME” it made sense to host one, for a worthy cause.
“We covered two games this fall for breast cancer research, there was a VOLLEY FOR A CURE game and DIG PINK and so it made perfect sense to have this game also contribute to the cause,” said Ferreri. “I had the honor of seeing many of these girls play their best during the regular and post season and felt they deserve to display their skills one last time (only seniors chosen) before they go off to impress their colleges.”
The event is taking place with the top 36 Illinois high school girl Volleyball players and in the state as chosen by sports writers/reporters/analysts from across the state and will compete in a best of 5 match on December 6th at 7pm at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills. It will be broadcast LIVE on SportsTownChicago.com with audio/video for FREE. The two head coaches were chosen also by their record along with recommendations hailing from Cary Grove (Patty Langanis) and Chicago Christian (James Garcia).
Funds raised at this exciting event will support A SILVER LINING FOUNDATION (www.asilverliningfoundation.org) which funds free mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women at 6 partner hospitals.
