An older Gary man thought a woman was coming over to take him to the grocery store.

Instead, she allegedly helped rob him of $1,000 in cash and his debit card, an affidavit alleges.

Ashley Marie Miller, 40, is charged with robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, robbery resulting in bodily injury, three counts of criminal confinement and another robbery charge.

She has not been apprehended and is ordered held on a $7,500 cash bond.

The victim told police he met her through a home health aide, her co-worker. He and Miller were “becoming friends.”

Gary Police were called at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 to 21st Avenue and Lane Street in the city’s Tarrytown section for a battery call.

Miller came over to pick him up in a van. Another man was inside. The victim, 66, “got nervous” when they passed Westside Foods.

She drove to Tarry Town Foods, parked and made a phone call. When the victim tried to get out of the van, the other man put him in an armlock. Miller got out and walked to him.

“Give it all up,” she told him.

The pair started punching him and stomped him when he fell to the ground, then took his wallet.

Someone driving by called 911. The victim had a broken left ankle. The pair later spent about $325 on his debit card.
