A Calumet City man is facing charges from a road rage incident.

Frederick Childress, 28, was charged Aug. 25 with intimidation, a level 5 felony.

He posted a $3,000 bail on Aug. 29. His next court date is Sept. 8.

Childress later told police he thought someone had tried to sideswipe him.

A man told police he left a Hammond restaurant with his wife. Around 9 p.m. Aug. 23, while driving north on Indianapolis Boulevard a man in a Dodge Charger pulled beside him and started yelling at him.

The man was “waving” a gun, while the woman next to him had a bat.

Near Summer Street, the man — later identified as Childress — cut him off, got out and approached his car and pointed a gun at them, the victim said.

“I will beat (you), I will shoot (you),” Childress allegedly said.

The man called 911.

Childress later told cops he got out to talk with the other driver, since he was “almost sideswiped.” He had a gun, but didn’t point it at anyone, he said.

Police found two guns in the center console.

The woman was not charged.
