A father’s complaint to police about his juvenile daughter allegedly being involved in an online relationship led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Chicago man.
Libertyville police charged Jack B. Cartlidge, of the 6000 block of North Albany Avenue, with three class-two felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and a class-three felony charge of traveling to meet a minor. Similar charges have been filed against Cartlidge in Wisconsin for his alleged relationship with the same girl, police said.
Cartlidge allegedly traveled to Fond du Lac, Wisc. and Libertyville to engage in sexual acts with the girl, according to a police report.
The arrest was made Jan.30 near the girl’s home following a four-month investigation by Libertyville and Fond du Lac police.
The investigation began when a Libertyville man complained to police that Cartlidge was in an inappropriate online relationship with the Libertyville man’s daughter, police said.
Cartlidge has been remanded to Lake County jail on a $500,000 bond, pending a Feb. 21 preliminary hearing at the Lake County courthouse.
