Everest Academy Celebrates Grandparents' Day

GRANDPARENTS DAY

On Tuesday, November 22nd, the students of Everest Academy invited their grandparents and families to the school for the annual celebration of Grandparents’ Day. The day of festivities is held every year before Thanksgiving as a way to thank grandparents and families for their role in their children’s education, and also to teach students the importance of gratitude.

The day started off with Mass in the school gym, followed by a brunch, and then presentations by grade. Presentations included songs, a line dance by the 2nd grade, a Spanish poem by Spanish students, a cultural dance by the Polish club, and a performance from the school choir. Families were also able to tour the classrooms and the book fair that was open at the time.

“I loved seeing my grandchildren perform, and the handwritten note I received from each one was a very touching detail, since I don’t receive those very often,” said Martha Hamilton, who has three grandchildren at Everest.

Everest Academy is an independent Roman Catholic school in Lemont educating children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The teachers and staff are dedicated to forming the whole child by providing the highest level of academics, by building character, and by developing a strong apostolic faith in the students.
