The School District 113A Educational Foundation kicked off the new school year raising over $25,000 at the “Summer’s Over. . . Wine a Little” benefit.
The Foundation launched its new “Friends of 113A” campaign at the event, encouraging supporters to donate in increments of $113, helping the district grow. For each $113 donation, the benefactor received a goodie bag including an “I’m a friend of 113A” bracelet and a backpack.
Families can join the Friends campaign throughout the year by making a donation through the Foundation website, SD113AFoundation.org. All contributions to the campaign are represented by leaves bearing the donors’ names added to a the tree pictured, symbolizing the growth of the Foundation and our schools.
Better Lawns and Gardens will reward every 50 donations with a tree planting at one of the schools. The first tree was earned Friday night, and Aldo Pizzaferrato of Fairway Custom Landscapes surprised the Foundation donating two more trees. Now a new tree will be planted this fall at each of the three district schools.
More than 200 guests attended the September 23 benefit at Montefiori Event Center. The party started with a wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres, then the dance floor opened up and DJ Sammy V cranked up the tunes. District administrators organized a beanbag tournament for the more competitive guests.
Generous donations from local businesses also contributed to the evening’s success. Sponsors include Country Financial; Castletown Homes; Koehler & Passarelli, LLC; Kohl’s; Ali Tucker Artistic Entertaining; 3 Corners Grill & Tap; Muffins; Leo & Sons Carpet Cleaning Services; A Warehouse on Wheels; MB Financial; Lifetouch National School Studios and 2 Tipsy, Inc.
Local groups including the Lemont Hornets Superlight Coaches and members of several Lemont subdivisions also sponsored the event.
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity committed to improving academic outcomes for all students in the Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A. We collaborate with the school board, school administration and staff, PTO and other organizations in our area to help achieve district-aligned goals and objectives.
