EVEREST ACADEMY’S 14TH ANNUAL SPELLING BEE
Everest Academy held it’s 14th Annual Spelling Bee on Thursday, February 23rd. Each class held its own spelling bee the week before and the three runners up from each grade participated in the all school spelling bee.
From kindergarten: Therese Yep, Katie Colarelli, and Cecilia Waligora. From Grade 1: Kieren Hamilton, Kiera Russell, John Beecher. From Grade 2: Riley Stone, Margaret Lawler, Brett Looby. From Grade 3: Nathan Yep, James Pratt, and Hannah Akroush. From Grade 4: Diana Foran, Sophia Colarelli, and Hannah Yep. From Middle School: James Beecher, Joseph Colarelli, Brian Trochuck, Veronica Kopec, Libby Thomas, and Michael Spell.
The judges of our annual spelling bee included members from the Nights of Colombus as well as our school chaplain, Fr. Matthew Kaderabek. The finalists of the spelling bee in the lower school included: John Beecher, Kiera Russell, and Kieren Hamilton. The finalists in the middle school included: James Beecher, Joe Colarelli, and Michael Spell. “It is so nice to see our children so excited to participate in strong educational events such as these,” Annette Waligora, Everest student mother, commented. “It is amazing to see that Cecilia is spelling 1st grade words in kindergarten!” she added.
The three young men that are advancing to the March 12th Regional Spelling Bee in Mokena include: James Beecher, Joe Colarelli, and Michael Spell. We are very proud of all of the Everest students and the constant great standard that they set and wish our three young gentlemen the best of luck!
