Woodstock Groundhog Days – Chili Cook-Off

Contestants vie for the coveted “Chili Pot” and the public is invited to taste all the entries and vote for the People’s Choice Award. The even will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Woodstock Opera House, 121 W. Van Buren Street, Woodstock. The Garage Party

The Garage Party will feature tunes by band Local Favorite, sipping wine from Cab’s Wine Bar Bistro and nibbling on munchies from Tap House Grill. The funds raised directly benefit Bridge Communities’ auto donation program, providing safe, reliable transportation to homeless families in Bridge’s Transitional Housing Program. The Garage Party takes place from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Feb. 4th at Gearhead, 474 Forest Ave., Glen Ellyn. Tickets are $40 per person. For more information, e-mail bridgebuildersge@yahoo.com.

Puppet Show with Marilyn Price

Marilyn’s puppets – an art form themselves – have drawn praise from her peers, and she often amazes audiences by animating common objects, anything from household cleaning supplies to carryout food packaging. Marilyn will be at Maya Papaya & Tony Macarony, 1901 Central St, Evanston, on Saturday February 4th, 11am. Free admission.

Fuel performs in Lincolnsire

The band will perform 9 to 11:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at Viper Alley in Lincolnshire. Fuel has sold more than 3.5 million albums in the U.S. and scored a trio of top 5 singles, “Shimmer,” “Innocent” and “Hemorrhage (In My Hands”), the latter of which remained at 1 for 12 weeks.

Hot Cocoa Party

Kids and parents are invited to a hot cocoa party to learn more about the Neighborhood Giving Project, an Oak Park-based organization that hosts kid-inspired service projects around town. The event will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at Scoville Park near the Oak Park Public Library, 800 Lake St. Come learn how to get involved in the group’s service projects.

Family Science Night: DCM Family Fun Friday Night

DuPage Children’s Museum, 301 N. Washington St., Naperville, will host Family Science Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 3. Visitors can explore science experiments. For more information, go to dupagechildrensmuseum.org.

The Northbrook Woman’s Club/Foundation Benefit

“A Taste of Napa,” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield. The evening will feature silent and live auctions, a Wine or Dine raffle and Buy it Now gift certificates. Dance to the exciting music of Orchestra Chicago, of the Don Cagen Group. Proceeds benefit qualifying scholarships and grants. $125 per person, and reservations required.

Design a Valentine

Children of all ages and their caregivers, parents, grandparents are invited to drop in at a special Design a Valentine workshop sponsored by the Indian Prairie Public Library’s Kids & Teens Department from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4.
