Laurel Kaiser’s award-winning Flutopia, consisting of players of flutes of all sizes, will be helping Santa Maria del Popolo celebrate 75 years by giving a special concert in their church. The event is free and open to the public, although a small offering is requested. Flutopia was recently featured at the Festival of Flutes in Chicago Illinois, where they received the highest rating possible and were invited to perform at the Honors recital. Laurel’s private students are all members of the group and have performed at St. Mary of Vernon Church in Indian Creek, St. Mary of Fremont Church in Mundelein, Hawthorn Gardens in Hawthorn Woods and other local businesses and churches. They are planning to record for a possible performance on Chicago’s classical music station, WFMT.
