The Lake Forest Woman’s Club won the “Most Original” Award in the Lake Forest Day Parade with four ladies riding in a horse drawn carriage. Laura Henderson, President, Mathilda Williams, Past President, Diane Boscia, Treasurer, and Marci Holzer, Past Board Member. The Lake Forest Woman’s Club sponsored the first Lake Forest Day on July 21, 1908 which was held at Farwell Field on the campus of Lake Forest College where one of the featured activities of that day was a horse drawn carriage ride taking festival goers on a sightseeing trip to Lake Bluff and back. The cost was 25 cents.
