District 67 Board of Education Openings

District 67 Board of Education has an opening for a board position due to the announcement by board member Rick Salzer of his intent to resign effective September 1, 2010.  Under the Illinois School Code, the responsibility for filling a vacancy, which occurs before the next scheduled school board election, falls to the remaining board members. District 67 has only 45 days from the date of a resignation to accomplish this or the responsibility shifts to the Regional Superintendent of Schools. Interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. If you are interested, please contact Board Clerk Pam Burke at 847-604-7420, pburke@lfschools.net, visit our website at www.lf67.org or stop by the Board of Education Office at 300 S. Waukegan Rd., Lake Forest, IL, 60045 for an application. If you know of someone who would be a good candidate, please encourage him or her to apply.

Completed applications must be received at the Board Office no later than Monday, Sept. 20, 2010.  After applications have been reviewed by the Board of Education, it is anticipated that selected candidates will be interviewed shortly thereafter, with installation to the Board of Education in October or November.

If you have questions about the process or about what is involved in being a District 67 School Board member, please contact the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Harry Griffith, at 847-604-7401 or any Board of Education member.

The District 67 Board of Education is looking for candidates to serve on a variety of Board Committees. These committees are structured such that each includes two Board of Education members, two or three administrators, and generally two community members and/or parents, on whom we rely for very important independent viewpoints on the issues being considered.

We are currently seeking individuals to fill future vacancies on the Education and Operations Committees. Appointments to these committees are for two-year terms and will be based on interest and qualifications.  Additional information regarding these committees can be found on the district website (www.lf67.org/schoolboard).

If you are interested in serving on either of these committees, please submit an application, (available online at www.lf67.org) to Pam Burke, Board Clerk, at the District Administrative Office, 300 S. Waukegan Road in Lake Forest by Monday, September 20, 2010. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Burke or any other members of the Board of Education if you have questions or wish to discuss the application process.
