National Bone Marrow Donor Registry Drive in Remembrance of Cedric Howard

Cedric Howard in April 2009

Cedric Howard in April 2009

Are you willing to make a difference in saving someones life?

Cedric Howard was the Assistant Fitness Director of the Lake Forest Health and Fitness Center. A little less than a year ago, Cedric was diagnosed with MDS (Myeldoysplastic Syndrome) often known as pre-leukemia. In order for Cedric to get better he needed a bone marrow transplant.

Due to the limited number of minority donors in the registry, Cedrics doctors were unable to find a perfect match. Cedric passed away on September 25, 2009 before a proper donor could be found.

Every day, 6,000 people like Cedric search the National Donor Marrow Registry in search for a cure for their life threatening condition. For minorities, the search is even more difficult because the number of registered donors is significantly less than most groups.

Along with support from Cedrics family, his team at the health club, and you, we can spread the awareness about the Donor Marrow Registry. Please help us spread the word about how important it is for people to be aware of this serious illness because everyone can take part in saving someones life.

The need is great. The solution is simple. Help us celebrate Cedric and join the registry on Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Lake Forest Health and Fitness Center from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  For more information, visit the LFHFC website at www.lfhfc.com.
