As part of the APT Fine Arts Program, String Groove performed at each of the District 67 schools. Led by violinist Edgar Gabriel, String Groove takes the audience on a musical journey that transcends time, geography, and culture. This musical ensemble combines old-world music with new sounds to create a truly original 21st Century sound. With the violin/electric violin at the core of the instrumentation, the musicians demonstrate infectious, driving rhythms and syncopations that are influenced by a wide variety of musical genres, including classical, West African, Middle Eastern, Asian, Latino, jazz, folk, blues, and rock. This performance is organized by the APT and funded through a generous grant from the Spirit of 67 Foundation.
