Pictured above is Cora Wilson Stewart, an early 20th century crusader for adult literacy and women’s leadership, who is known as the “Queen Mother of Adult Literacy.”  As part of a year-long Women and Literacy in Our Backyard campaign, School and Tutors on Wheels will hold the Cora Wilson Book Drive and a series of events celebrating Cora Wilson Stewart during the week leading up to Mother’s Day. Books by and for women can be dropped off through Sunday, May 13, under an art collage created by literacy students and volunteers called “Celebrating Female Treasures Within and Around Us,” that is displayed in the lobby of the Congregation of St. Joseph, 1515 W.
