With the holiday season fast approaching, the Stickney – Forest View Public Library District is doing its part to help keep families entertained. The library is continually scheduling family events for all ages to attend. Last year, the library had a visit from Santa. He read the children a holiday story, and listened to what the kids wanted for Christmas. The children lined up with their “letters to Santa” and proceeded to tell him what they wanted. The library took those letters (shhh! – our little secret) and made them part of Macy’s Believe program. For every stamped letter Macy’s received, they donated $1.00 to the Make – A – Wish Foundation, and then mailed the letters to Santa’s Workshop in the North Pole. Macy's is continuing this tradition this year.
This December 4th, Santa will be back to take letters and read another story! Santa is going to be reading “A Creature Was Stirring: One Boy’s Night Before Christmas” by acclaimed New Yorker, Pixar, and DreamWorks SKG illustrator, Carter Goodrich. This story tells both sides of "Twas the Night Before Christmas." On one side of the page is the classic poem and on the other side is the child's perception of Christmas Eve – a child who is too excited to sleep.
Kids will be delighted and entertained as they hear Santa tell this story. After the story, the children can tell Santa what they want for Christmas and stay to make 3D snowflakes!
