The ‘new’ Alden Estates of Shorewood, scheduled to open this spring, recently named Denise Graves, RN, as its Director of Nursing. Graves will be responsible for managing the day-to-day nursing operations at the facility, which specializes in short-term orthopedic recovery and post-acute services.

Graves has nearly 20 years of nursing experience, working as a certified nurse aide (CNA), licensed practical nurse (LPN) and also as a registered nurse (RN) at OSF Saint James Hospital in nearby Pontiac. She taught a nursing class for seven years at the Livingston Area Career Center and has been working as a Director of Nursing and Nursing Home Administrator in the Chicago area for the past three years.

“Denise is able to pull from all of her different nursing experiences over the years and brings a skill set many other DONs do not have to make sure our nurses demonstrate a certain level of expertise not found at other rehabilitation centers,” says Annette Borcky, RN, administrator, Alden Estates of Shorewood.

Graves received her nursing degree from Heartland Community College in Normal, a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management and an MBA from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. She is also a licensed nursing home administrator (LNHA).
